Welcome!

Hello,

My name is Stefan Thomas and I will teach High School social studies one day. I originally was active in extreme sport instruction and felt an affinity for working with people, and want  to make a contribution by becoming a teacher.

On this home page,I hope to create a resource for middle school students, a fun way to get in touch with the social aspects of foreign lands.
The student exposed to this webquest are 7th an 8th graders, who have already successfully analyzed the Civil War, World War One and Two, and have had exposure to U.S. domestic developments during the Vietnam War.The main goal of the exercise is to familiarize students with the noteworthy point of research when learning about any country as well as demonstrate the ability to use the internet's search engines, learning the ins and outs of conducting searches and learning to choose search terms wisely.

In this task you wil learn about the dyanmic structure of social phenomena as seen in developing countries. Specifically Egypt, being an islamic democracy with ties to the west it represents a foothold of influence for the developers of such democracies in the region of the Middle East. Egypt has come along way in its relationship with the global community and with it's rich history of millenia is the most worthy candidate for the learning objectives.

The main concern as with anything developing is the stability of the social structure. Egypt has dealt with dictators as well as pharaohs and presidents each phase going through a period of establishment and dismantling, rise and fall, war and peace, domestically and internationally.
